Leighton Meester performs at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood - January 6th, 2015

You've seen Leighton Meester on television and in film, but have you heard her music? Heartstrings, her hit and debut album's namesake, which she wrote and composed entirely herself, really captures your soul with sweet ethereal melodies paired with sassy, soulful lyrics.

Music is nothing new to her and it showed by Leighton, right in her element, gracefully singing away her set on her opening night for her three week residency at The Hotel Cafe. The place was packed full of loyal Leighton fans and supporters. I'm going to be completely straight forward with today's music and admit how much I can't stand the lyrics of most of today's song writers. The talent-to-fame ratios just hardly ever add up and you'll almost never find me listening to any "Top 40". I was however pleasantly surprised to read the lyrics to Leighton's songs and not only can she play her instruments and sing SO beautifully, but she writes her own amazing songs as well! She joins the sistren of real musicians.

Dana Williams opened up for Leighton and dished out a beautiful set as well. She later joined Leighton for a ridiculously awesome Fleetwood Mac cover of "Dreams".  Leighton also covered Loretta Lynn's "You Ain't Woman Enough (To Take My Man)" which was also impossible not to love.

Her voice really captures you. She's a pretty young lady of many talents and music is without a doubt only one of them. She continues her residency for two more Tuesdays - Jan 13th, and Jan 20th.
