ART OPENING: Austen Brantley @ Whitdel Arts, Friday 13 March

Austen Brantley
Opening Reception Friday, March 13th, 7-10pm
Exhibit March 13 - April 25, 2015

Deep in Thought, 2014

Whitdel Arts is proud to present a solo exhibition by emerging artist Austen Brantley.  Working in ceramic sculpture, Brantley began his interest in clay in a school elective class. Uninterested in making pottery, he soon found rendering the human form to be an engaging challenge, and since then, Brantley has developed his skill further, learning to form the unassuming lumps of clay into impressively detailed  busts and human figures.

“My inspiration comes from looking at different cultures; historic and classic art pieces for source material— and what the clay itself reveals to me. In the moments that I create in clay, I hope to capture the world through the eyes of people who have struggled and have reached freedom.” Brantley said of his work.

Please join us for an opening reception for the artists on Friday, March 13th, 7-10pm

The exhibition will run from March 13 - April 25, 2015.  This event is free and open to the public. All ages welcome. Open gallery hours are Saturdays during exhibitions, noon-3pm, or by appointment.
