Moogfest is Your Pre-Movement Destination

Just a week before Movement storms back into Hart Plaza with a slew of electronic artists and DJs, Moogfest 2016 will take place in Durham, North Carolina May 19 -22. Like Movement, Moogfest 2016 features some of the best electronic artists that ever set finger to knob. Gary Numan will be performing 3 nights and other legendary artists include Laurie Anderson and The Orb will also perform. The list of artists is very expansive and just added some new tremendous acts this week like Grimes and Miike Snow.

In addition to the many electronic artists that will there will be lectures of electronic music and future technology and theory with some of the leaders in innovative thought and education. There will also be exciting art on display and film previews.

To get an early preview of what you will be hearing Moogfest is offering  “Translational Drifts: Volume 2,” a free digital EP series featuring Moogfest artists - past, present and future. Calling on five contemporary Moogfest artists to remix covers of tracks by seminal electronic musicians, Volume 2 spotlights the sonic collaboration and creative cross-pollination that is central to Moogfest’s diverse lineup.

And lastly for some local flavor, several Michigan artists such as Heathered Pearls, Adult., and Kyle Hall are taking part at Moogfest. For an electronic music nerd such as myself, Moogfest is a bucketlist destination that cannot be missed.
