Le Shoppe Too is home to a packed 17,000 square foot showroom and is the lovechild of their four partners who have worked many years in complimentary fields and owned Le Shoppe, and Managed Estates. Together, this showroom hosts their vintage consignment items, off site estate sales, auctions, special events and more.
Le Shoppe Too gives consignment shopping a twist. It is a departure from “we sell anything that can be consigned” by offering clients hand-picked, unique pieces collected from all over the world. Your hosts will be selecting their favorite Midcentury collectible to discuss why it’s their “go to.”

Get up front and personal with Robert Edwards as he provides an overview on how the American Dreaming: Detroit’s Golden Age of Automotive Designexhibition was created from his own personal collection. Bill Porter, recognized as one of the greatest automotive concept artists of all time, will also be present to discuss the impact that design had on the automotive world.
Robert Edwards is a Detroit artist and art collector who has become a leading expert on automotive drawings and the artists in Detroit who created them in the 1950s,1960s, and 1970s. Robert is co-producing a documentary film on subject, and has curated this exhibition to celebrate, in the largest collection to date, the contributions of automotive design artists to the canon of western art.
Bill Porter is widely regarded among the most articulate and respected alumni of G.M. design. Bill headed the Pontiac and Buick studios and was credited with cars like the 1968 Pontiac GTO, 1970 Firebird and the 1995 Buick Riviera.

Preservation Detroit has teamed up with Detroit Bikes! (the group, not the company) to offer a bike ride and tour throughout Detroit. This year we visit iconic modern masterpieces like the McGregor Memorial Conference Center, Horace H. Rackham Educational Memorial Building, 160 West Fort - Former Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Detroit Branch and enjoy the Public Spaces of Isamu Noguchi: Detroit’s Hart Plaza. For safety and liability reasons, we ask that you do wear a helmet and to not use amplified music or whistles. The pace is leisurely to accommodate riders of all levels.

Interior Designer and prominent collector of 20th century design, Tom Verwest likes to think of himself as unpretentious, spending his efforts to deliver value to the client. His approach is always to deliver quality design, unique products, and an ability to blend modern day furnishings with vintage pieces.
A veteran of the design business, and member of the Detroit Area Art Deco Society pared with his modern esthetic, Tom’s award winning work has been extensively published throughout his 25-year career. Tom has an uncanny ability to see a project through his client’s eyes. This year Tom will be discussion the interior space plan for the newly renovated Caucus Club of Detroit.

Join tour guide Rebecca Binno Savage as we start our discussion at the newest bike shop downtown - Detroit Bikes at 1212 Griswold in Capitol Park for the start of the tour. We take a stroll around Capitol Park to hear about the new development projects, and especially the buildings from the Art Deco era. We then go up to the second floor of the Albert (1212 Griswold) to enjoy a refreshing frosty beverage and take an amazing view of Capitol Park on the Albert’s outdoor terrace.

Learn intimate details of the Fisher Building as well as see firsthand the exquisite design and ornamentation of the interior arcade including one-of-a-kind mosaics, painted ceilings, Art Deco chandeliers and the finest craftsmanship in stone, brass and bronze. The tour will feature an extensive history of the building as well as a trip to the 19th floor for excellent photo opportunities.
The Guardian Building is a National Historic Landmark. See first hand the intricate design and exquisite detail of Wirt C. Rowland’s artistic achievement, including works by muralist Erza Winter, tile installations by Pewabic Pottery’s Mary Chase Stratton and sculpture by Corrado Parducci. The tour begins at our Pure Detroit shop in the retail promenade of the Guardian Building.

Michigan made everyday life modern. Its educational institutions trained generations of talented architects and designers. Its furniture manufacturers transformed homes and offices. Its auto industry designed and styled the cars that came to represent the American dream. Michigan architects defined an era. This first of two books culminates the Michigan Modern Project, a focused effort to study and evaluate Michigan’s role in the development of modernism.
Brian D. Conway is Michigan’s State Historic Preservation Officer. As State Historic Preservation Officer, Mr. Conway directs the division of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, charged with the responsibility for the identification, registration, protection and development of historic properties throughout the state. The State Historic Preservation Office promotes the reuse of, and investment in, historic buildings. The State Historic Preservation Office initiated the Michigan Modern Project in 2009 with research, context development and identification of midcentury era resources. The rich story that evolved resulted in two major museum exhibitions, three national symposia, the NHL designation for three sites, numerous national register listings and two forthcoming books (fall 2016 and fall 2017).

Join the Detroit Area Art Deco Society as we closeout Detroit Modernism Week with our premier viewing of the Official 2016 FREEP Film Festival selection “Parducci, The Man Who Made Detroit Beautiful. When architectural sculptor Corrado Parducci arrived in Detroit in 1924, he left his fingerprints on hundreds of buildings during the building boom. Parducci’s story is of an Italian immigrant who overcomes hardships throughout his life, and without seeing notoriety for his work, becomes one of our country’s top architectural sculptors.
Special meet and greet with Documentary film Director Jack P. Johnson and film Producer Jennifer Baross immediately following the film.
