Local Film "CUPCAKE BANDITS" to Premier at DWIFF Sat June 23 7PM

Detroit filmmaker and two-time award winner at DWIFF returns to the 2012 Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) to premier his latest film "Cupcake Bandits".

"Cupcake Bandits" (10min), written and directed by Jeffery T. Schultz, is a film about a couple of tough guys whose paths cross in a two road town and join forces to face their greatest fear.  The story goes deeper as it speaks of tolerance, fear, joy, and love, while celebrating the many forms they may take on.

Produced entirely with Michigan talent, "Cupcake Bandits" stars Tim Holmes (Real Steel, Oz: The Great and Powerful, Vegas), Alex Safi (Setup, Certain Essential Elements), and introducing the young Tecia Patterson.  It also includes original music by Detroit's DUDE, aka Tony Denardo of The Muggs.  All scenes were filmed on location in Flatrock and Saline, Michigan.

A Detroiter through and through, Schultz studied fine art photography at the College for Creative Studies.  With his longstanding interest in filmmaking, in 2007 Schultz started the Michigan based production company KNAGEN FILMS with fellow artist, producer and College for Creative Studies graduate Jennifer Atanasovski.  Jeffery and his wife live in Midtown Detroit, having refurbished a home in the historic neighborhood of Woodbridge where they both work and reside. Currently, Schultz is collaborating on several projects with local writers and producers.

The 5th Annual DWIFF is June 21st - June 24th, with screenings in Midtown Detroit. The festival includes the Moving Media Student Festival and the Detroit Docs Film Festival.

"Cupcake Bandits" will screen on Saturday, June 23rd at 7pm in the Wayne State University Community Arts Building 495 Ferry Mall, Detroit MI 48202. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online or at the door.
