Girl in a Coma @ St. Andrews Hall 9/19/2012

GiaC on tour

Girl in a Coma is a rare band. Feral, unaffected by trends, blazing their own path. Their musical talent has built them an impassioned and diverse fan base, from Joan Jett, who signed them, Morrissey, Sia, Teagan and Sara, The Pogues, Amanda Palmer, young and old, to everyone in between. Punks and rockers, listeners of Tejano to popular, male/female.

I wouldn't presume to pigeonhole them to some genre, punk is too limiting, girl band is insulting. You can hear many influences in their music, punk, hence their name, rock n roll, oldies, contemporary. Their covers are eclectic, Bowie, Selena, Joy Division, Patsy Cline, and my favorite the Beatles, While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

My advice, come out to this show. You will not be disappointed. They put on a great show. They are great musicians. Their songs are catchy, powerful, moving, they'll get you moving.
