Tescofest was a ridiculously awesome line-up of influential and ground breaking
hardcore and punk bands (many of which were from Michigan), along with some
current local bands that promise to be looked at in the same way in the future.
The Magic Stick and Alley Deck were packed full and the crowd ranged from
teenagers to 50-somethings, and included travelers from as far as Texas and
California just to see this one night reunion show of dreams.
Hellmouth (Jay Navarro of Suicide Machines new hardcore band) was awesome and it was cool to see Jay on stage in a different light. Admittedly, I only knew a few Iron Cross songs before this show, but was blown away by them - it was just the classic punk style I love, and I can't wait to discover more from them, and I loved Gang Green as well.
The audience was just as high energy as the bands themselves, and really got roaring especially for Negative Approach (who did an amazing Borstal Breakout cover) and The Meatmen. The show was incredible from beginning to end - as if you'd stepped back in time for an evening and I hope Tesco Vee will bring it back again down the road!
