SHOW REVIEW: Gaslight Anthem with Bouncing Souls @ The Fillmore 3/3/13

Jersey rock band Gas Light Anthem, came out to Royal Oak Music Theater, Sunday, March 3. Opening the show was Cory Branan, a solo artist who sang about his life on the road. Playing his fast acoustic guitar the crowd got warmed up for the show to come. All of this energy was very short lived, four or five songs in the crowd started to lose their focus. As I was walking around watching them I heard people commenting on how long his songs were. All of this negative energy left right away when the Bouncing Souls hit the stage. The lead singer had a very laid back vibe when he sang, but at the same time gave off such a high energy. The crowd responded to all of that energy in the pit!  They played some classics such as “Hopeless Romantic” and “Sing Along Forever”, but they did not forget their newer one such as “Lean on Sheena” and “Coin Toss Girl”. Noticeably missing from the set list for the night was “Ole”.  The band everyone came to see that night was Gaslight Anthem! Setting up the stage with candles and toys to make the mood more relaxed. Brian Fallon (vocals) was amazing, he had those rough rock vocals that everyone love in a good rock band. As Brian was singing to the crowd you knew every word that he sang came straight from his heart. This was one of the most fun rock shows I have ever seen, it was also one of the best shows to come through Detroit in the last year.
