Corridor Collects 3

Selections From The Allen And Carol Schaerges Collection

Cass Cafe Gallery announces the third installment in an occasional series looking at art selected from notable local collections.  In this exhibition the gallery will house selected works from the Allen and Carole Schaerges collection of Detroi, MI. The exhibition opens with a reception honoring the collectors on Saturday, February 12, from 7 – 10 p.m. and remains on view through April 9, 2011.

This extensive collection includes works of art from many of Detroit's most notable artists, and represents works from the early 1970's through today, as well as choice examples of Americana, items of historical interest, and antiquities. The selected work is most remarkable for the collector's broad interest in acquiring works by many of Detroit's most notable artists, and for the extensive time frame of the acquisitions. From artists of the "Kick Out The Jams" era to today, this exhibition highlights the breadth and quality of Detroit's rich artistic heritage.

Cass Cafe Gallery is honored for the rare opportunity to share this collection with the community. Open daily February 12 – April 9, 2011.  Artists included in the exhibition include: Matt Blake: 1965-2008, Betty Brownlee, Douglas Bulka, Carl Butler, Jim Chatelain, James Duffy: 1923-2009, John Egner, Steve Foust,  Jerome Ferretti, Milan Filipic, Ruth Goldfaden,  Stephen Goodfellow, Barbara Greene, Jim Grogan,  Sherry Hendrick, Ameen Howrani: 1941-2010, Chad Hunt,  Bradley Jones: 1944-1989, Gwen Joy, Jim Kennedy: 1947-2008, Michael Knight, Scott Landon, Sakinah LeClair, Ruth Leonard, Eric Mesko, Michael Luchs, Ann Mikolowski: 1940-1999, Gordon Newton, Pat Otto, Tom Parish, Kathleen Rashid, Robert Sestok, Slaw, Gilda Snowden, Trisha Soderberg, Chris Turner, Gilbert Vasquez, Sung-Hee Wee.
