NEW ALBUM RELEASE: The Marvelous Missing Link: Lost by the Insane Clown Posse

Detroit's own The INSANE CLOWN POSSE just released a new album this past Tuesday entitled The Marvelous Missing Link: Lost.

This is one dark album. Easily disturbing to the general masses, but a gem to horrorcore fans abound.

 Lyrics from the song "Vomit"
"If the heavens above had rejected your soul
Never are you lost without a place to go
Deeper to the bottom of hell's eternal fire
You are always welcome to back and retire"

The Insane Clown Posse is not working with long time producer and writer Mike E. Clark on this one, instead Brian Kuma and James "Otis" Garcia (Axe Murder Boyz), Mike P (Zug Izland), DJ Paul (Three 6 Mafia)  and Michael "Seven" Summers have been brought in. This brought on changes both musically and lyrically. The usual comedy tainted lyrics are gone and instead you have lyrics that reflect faith and often large and dark issues in life.

Lyrics from the song "Confederate Flag"
"one, two, three rednecks on a ladder
Hangin' up a rebel flag
It don't matter how many of ya
Because we don't love ya
Stick you in the dirt, tombstone above ya
It's juggalos all over the south, that don't wave it
Better where they from but that flag, they hate it
'Cause they understand it's a symbol of slavery
One flag reps us all, it means bravery"

Track listing for the new album is as follows:
Intro
Lost
Apocalypse
Shock
Confederate Flag
Vomit
Falling Apart
How
Explosions
I’ll Keep My Hatchet
Neighbors Are Fighting
You Should Know
Flamethrower
I See The Devil

A companion for this album entitled Marvelous Missing Link: Found will be released three months from now on July 28, 2015 and is expected to be on the lighter side.

The Sonics Rocked The Majestic Theatre

The Sonics rocked the Motor City for the first time on Saturday April 25th. The legendary 1960’s band brought their edgy/rough/punk/garage rock sound to the Majestic Theater and didn’t disappoint. The music was delivered loud and fast in true Sonics fashion. Supporting acts Barrence Whitfield and the Savages along with the Henchmen engaged the audience beforehand with screaming vocals and explosive musicality. Each of the acts delivered something different and it was truly a unique experience to photograph. M. Zaharof

FLING by D.H. Ruthenberg at Hatch Art Gallery April 28th

D.H. Ruthenberg
Hatch Art Gallery
3456 Evaline St. in Hamtramck
http://www.hatchart.org/

College for Creative Studies graduating Fine Arts senior D.H. Ruthenberg presents FLING, a thesis show. ONE NIGHT ONLY April 28th from 6-10pm

A formal sensibility covers all aspects of these pieces in how they relate
to each other visually via the isolation of objects and shapes. In the series
of photographic images Facade, the body is being looked at in an abstract way.
For example, in the image of the body with a gun, the body is not that different than the gun. The gun connotes violence, but here, is aesthetically derived as
a stylized object, shape and form. Embed utilizes steel wool pads—there is beauty in what’s utilitarian—relating to each other in a grid. The arrangement juxtaposes different shapes and colors, which in turn reference gender and create a Gestalt unique to the cast. In Flange, US Military helmets are formally arranged in a stylized manner that calls attention to the detailed forms.
In contrast to the previous series of images and objects, the charcoal drawing Fracture shows a single, isolated object.

SWEET SPIRIT FROM AUSTIN MAKE THEIR DETROIT DEBUT

Join us for an evening of indie pop rock music featuring Sweet Spirit from Austin, Texas. The band are on a spring tour in support of their self-titled debut EP released in February. The EP was produced by Mike McCarthy who is known for his work with the Canadian power pop band Spoon.

Boy/girl alternate vocals and a horn section make this band stand out among the pack. This attracted the singer of Spoon who invited them on their tour and hooked them up with their producer, McCarthy. A full album is also in the works for release this summer on indie label Nine Mile Records.

The band has been receiving numerous accolades in their hometown and after three shows at this year's SXSW music festival, the rest of the country is catching on as well.

"Fun and catchy with a flawless blending of countless genres they’re just that good."  - OVRLD

"Sweet Spirit is a spectacular band that can let your imagination go wild. The best thing we've seen at SXSW" - I Heart Music

Also performing this night will be:

Sweet Spirit - The band developed their sound with a diversity and balance of influences. Delivered in sultry harmonies with as many guitars as possible, Sweet Spirit gives exuberant voice to the struggles of loving and living. www.sweetspiritatx.com

Eleanora - Eleanora is an eclectic mix of various musical styles and flavors. It is the result of a collaboration between classically trained and self-taught musicians. They call their music Chamber Pop! www.facebook.com/EleanoraLive

Historic Fort Wayne Flea Market returns April 25-26

ANNUAL HISTORIC FORT WAYNE FLEA MARKET RETURNS

WITH GREAT SHOPPING AND TOURS APRIL 25-26

Antique and bargain hunters will find collectibles, contemporary treasures and a variety of arts and crafts at the annual Historic Fort Wayne Flea Market, taking place Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26 at 6325 W. Jefferson (at the foot of Livernois).

The hours for the event are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The flea market is presented by the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition. As always, tours priced at $5 per person of the Historic Fort Wayne complex will be offered each day.

The guided tours will include the Star Fort built in the 1840s and the Spanish-American War Guard House.

Secured parking is $5 per vehicle, and admission is free for the flea market. Refreshments will also be for sale.

The Historic Fort Wayne Coalition is dedicated to preserving the history of Michigan men and women who served their country between 1845 and 1973 who either sent material to or personally passed through Historic Fort Wayne as a place of induction to United States military service.  We are busy helping the Fort's caretakers, the City of Detroit Recreation Department with this effort in two major ways.  First, we present high quality events that provide ways for the public to enjoy Historic Fort Wayne and see glimpses of how it would have looked when it was garrisoned.  We are also very busy preserving and restoring as much of the structures and facilities as possible on the Fort grounds.
