On Saturday, August 15 Detroit's Rock 'N' Roll Inspired traveling Flea Market returns to Toledo for a encore appearance. Rock and Rummage will be setting up shop at Mickey Finn's Pub.

The event will feature several vendors selling pop culture goods of all kinds, vintage clothes, retro collectibles , jewelry, vinyl records, DVD's and assorted one of a kind items.

Special performances through the night

include Hell's Belles Girlie Revue.

Combining classic vaudeville, cheeky sex appeal and a little Detroit edge, the Belles do burlesque with equal amounts of sassy and sexy. They rill be performing a full blown rock show at this event which includes performing to songs by the Runaways, AC/DC and more.

Also on the bill are the comedy rap duo the Potty Mouth Sissys. The Potty Mouth Sissys combine the musical sensibilities of old school rap such as Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and The 2 Live Crew, with the comedy routines of George Carlin and Andrew Dice Clay.

Rounding out the evening is General Bastard. The masked General wows audiences with his guitar acrobats while playing songs. General Bastard shows a diverse range of influences with songs ranging from punk to metal to surf music. He has a knack for covering television theme songs such as Laverne & Shirley, King of the hill and many others.

Shop, Sell, Drink, and Rock at Rock and Rummage all night long starting at 9PM.

The event is $5.00 for those 21 and over and $7.00 for those 18 and over.

Rock and Rummage is a traveling Rock and Roll Themed flea market that brings shopping for vintage clothing, handmade goods and other pop culture objects into bars across the Detroit area.

On Friday, May 6 we are having our 4th annual Rock and Rummage Spring Cleaning Spectacular at the Belmont Bar in Hamtramck.

This event will include 10 diverse Detroit area Rock and Rummage vendors. Vendors will selling the coolest of goods including the kitsch debris of American pop culture, jewelry, vinyl records, DVD's, posters, comics, cool clothing, vintage goods, art, Pin-up items, and various one of a kind treasures.

It's time for spring cleaning and Rock and Rummage is going to have a bash to make all the work a little more fun and profitable.

DJ Dougie Tangent will be spinning the tunes all night long. Dougie is well known for being in local bands The Dewtons as well as D.A.

Attention shoppers...

This weeks post was supposed to be an interview with Artie Lange, but his folks canceled on us at the very last minute, TWICE. So, left in the lurch, I couldn't think of anything more enjoyable than to hang with MCB for the Rock n Rummage at New Dodge Bar last Saturday.

Rock N Rummage is always choc full of trinkety goodness. The place is strewn with stuff that's lovingly created or embellished by local friends, whether it's brand new or just too cool to be thrown away. Your favorite jacket from the 80's, your parents vinyl collection, a box of grandma's porn...It's all there. Don't be surprised at what might be lurking behind the rack of vintage pleather. The folks that put this together really scour the cellar for anything that could be of interest. To anyone.

Oh, and there are buttons! Buttons galore!

MCB was there with several givaways to awesome shows, I lost count after the first few. To keep the browsing crowd entertained there was a DJ, breakdancing by Hardcore Detroit, a magic show from Scarboni the Great, a peek-a-boo performance from T&A Burlesque and a killer set from They Never Sleep. That Queen Bee is a doll. I will make sure I see this band again, with or without the garage sale going on in the background.

Hope to see you there next time! As for today, I'm off to go see what Them Crooked Vultures is all about. Someone said they were fancy.

MCB sponsered the Rock n Rummage event last saturday night where we gave away a boatload of free tickets and it was super fun with tons of awesome people out shopping for cool vintage goods and enjoying the killer DJ and atmosphere....big thanks to CASEY from RnR and another big thanks to the winner of the Prodigy tickets for ending my evening with a BANG!

"What do you get when you cross a no-frills bar (other than an assortment of Polish and other ethnic beers on tap and in the cooler) with a variety of hard-to-find VCR tapes, bootleg DVD's, custom-made and authentic retro-style clothing, with unique hand-made jewelry thrown in for good measure?Stumped yet?It's simple. Its the Rock n Rummage.One could easily spend a good $20 bucks and walk out of there with enough cool stuff to last anyone with ADHD a week. I personally walked out of there with a bootleg DVD of a NIN concert from 1990 AND 2008 and a 3 CD collection of Gothic Masterpieces (Bauhaus, The Church, Iggy and the Stooges, The Mission, etc.) all for less than $18.The next time it comes around, do yourself a favor and check it out. If you don't find anything you like (hardly possible) you can at least grab a beer."

Join On the Rocks Detroit with High Liquors and White Dogg Detroit for a boisterous New Year's Eve Party on Friday December 31 at The Ritz in Warren, Michigan. "Retox" Rock 'N Roll New Year's Eve features live music by some of Metro Detroit's wildest rock bands, including 60 Second Crush, Mound Road Engine, Motown Rage, Soot and A.S.S.  Doors are at 8 p.m. and the party runs until 4 a.m.!  Admission is just $5 for ages 21 and over, and $8 for ages 18-20.

Rachel Rampage:
Sideshow performer Rachel Rampage has brought her unique talent to many area events and even had a stint with The Coney Island Circus Sideshow in New York City. Expect to witness her walk on glass and also consume it. She has also promised to hammer a nail into her nose for the event.

Scarboni The Great:
Magician Scarboni The Great will perform illusions of seemingly supernatural feats. Expect to believe in the impossible after his performance. He will perform on stage, but is often gracious to those in attendance who want a up close and personal magic performance.

Be there this Friday (April 8) as 7 local bands pay tribute to the music of Nirvana. Each band will play a live set of Nirvana songs.

Global Battle of the Bands Competition Gives metro Detroit Up-and-Coming Bands the Chance to

Take the Stage at Hard Rock Calling 2012

Hard Rock is on the hunt for musicians on the rise to take the stage at the 2012 Hard Rock Calling music festival in London's Hyde Park. Hard Rock Rising, the global battle of the bands, will give one local band from this international competition the chance of a lifetime – to be on the bill with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and additional headlining performers at one of the world's most-anticipated concert events. 

Beginning on Thursday, March 8, 2012, the area's greatest undiscovered bands, as chosen by Hard Rock Cafe Detroit's Facebook fans, will take the stage at Hard Rock Cafe Detroit and battle it out live at multiple qualifying events. Bands performing include Something Utopic, Clay Adams Band, Fusion Records Entertainment, alchalant, Tone and Niche, Armour the Lion, Stealing Betty, Nathan Roberts and Essential Side Project.  Each round will be hosted by Gynp, mid-day on-air host at 93.9 The River, and bands will be judged by a panel of local industry experts. including Kirk Rukenbrod of MOTORCITYBLOG, Robert Enell of Hell City Records, Todd Glass and Tony DeNardo of the Muggs, BJ Hammerstein of Detroit Free Press, Travis Wright of WDET, Mark Kurlyandchik, of HOUR Detroit and Casey Schwochow, originator and owner of Rock and Rummage and Ambervillain Films and participating bands' representatives. A final round featuring each of the preliminary winners will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012, with one winner being selected to move on.

Hard Rock Cafe Detroit's local winners will then be pitted against eighty-six other Hard Rock Cafe local winners from across the globe. These local winners will be narrowed down to the top ten bands worldwide via fan voting on participating Hard Rock Facebook pages. A panel of celebrity judges and music industry professionals will select the top three winners.

The first place winner will be flown to London for the ultimate rock star treatment, including a spot on the bill at Hard Rock Calling 2012. Second and third prize winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively, in ReverbNation PROMOTE IT credits, a revolutionary tool that creates targeted, highly effective Facebook advertising campaigns for musicians and venues promoting songs, Facebook pages and concerts.
