The night is still young for BIG GIGANTIC, one of the most celebrated acts in live music right now.  They have announced they will return to the road on their “Touch The Sky Tour,” their next headlining road trek in 2014 in support of their fifth studio album THE NIGHT IS YOUNG out now.  

The month-long tour launches on October 8 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, OH right after BIG GIGANTIC performs with Bassnectar at the famed Madison Square Garden inNew York City.  The pair mostly keep east of the Mississippi, making stops in such markets as Grand Rapids, St. Louis, Kansas City, Urbana, IL, Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta and more. Named after The Night Is Young album cut “Touch the Sky”—an electro-leaning dance track drizzled with jazzy sax tones courtesy of BIG GIGANTIC’s Dominic Lalli and live drums per Jeremy Salken—the tour will capture BIG GIGANTIC’s explosive live show at every stop. Sandwiched between their headlining dates will also be four shows featuring BIG GIGANTIC supporting their good friend and recent Bonnaroo Superjam collaborator Skrillex in Columbus, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Amherst, MA.

Los Angeles-based trio together PANGEA are excited to reveal their video for "Badillac," from their recently-released Harvest Records debut of the same name. The sci-fi inspired clip was premiered by 

A.V. Club, who noted that it "has some serious Young Frankenstein vibes, as well as some solid tunes to back it up." 

together PANGEA has received much praise for Badillac, with Consequence of Sound awarding the album an A-, noting Badillac is "moody, it's fun, and it's the sort of thing I want to believe in - one of those rare listens where you think, Okay, I get this... and I think it gets me." MTV News ushered in its release by listing the album as one of the ten "Most Anticipated Indie Albums of 2014," while Stereogum declared "gear up for one of 2014's wildest records." VICE Magazine awarded Badillac with "Album Cover of the Month," and lauded the record, exclaiming "finally, a garage band with some fucking balls. On Friday, October 24, 2014 metro-Detroiters are invited to Cass Community Social Services' (Cass) Nightmare on Elmhurst haunted attraction.  When darkness falls in Detroit, the nightmare begins for those that dare to enter Cass' frightening outdoor maze. The Nightmare – regardless of weather – is open 7 - 11p.m. Proceeds benefit Cass' work with homeless women and children.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children 12 (not recommended for children under five). New this year, a $15 Fast Pass, allowing the bravest ticket holders to jump to the front of the line if they dare. Secure, free, gated parking is available. Group rates are also available*.

Months before opening, Cass staff seek out the premiere paranormal in order to create the most spine-chilling experience in Detroit. Carnage covers the Zombie Field with the walking dead looking for their next victims and tree houses with unnatural occupants will keep visitor's eyes to the skies. The bottomless pit dares all to test their talent to escape the demons that are rumored to be imprisoned below.

One hundred student volunteers from Brighton will join the Cass staff to run this year's attraction. This is the second year Cass is producing the Nightmare on Elmhurst attraction next to their Scott Building headquarters.

Cass previously hosted Detroit Urban Legends haunted house from 2003 – 2012 at the 131-year-old Cass Community United Methodist Church in Detroit.

"I love this time of year and the chance each year to come up with a more frightening experience," said Rev. Fowler.  "It's not only an important fundraiser for the women and children we serve, it provides a fun event for the community."

Beginning Sunday, October 19, 2014, Cass Executive Director, Rev. Faith Fowler, will lead a team of volunteers to begin the week long work of creating a scream-inducing encounter for those brave enough to enter. 

Nightmare on Elmhurst will be open October 24-26, 30 & 31 from 7pm-11pm.

Attraction goers can arrange free, secure parking and entry into the haunted attraction at

Big Wreck’s new album Ghosts is now available in the US on iTunes, Amazon, select digital partners and in F.Y.E. stores across the country. Big Wreck headed into Revolution Studios and Vespa Studios in Toronto to record the 13 new songs that make up Ghosts. The band approached the making of this album with a renewed sense of wonder toward the very things that turned them on to rock and roll in the first place. While the album stays true to the driving intensity, booming drum sound and unbridled guitar virtuosity that has always made Big Wreck so appealing, it also explores bold new aural territory which sees the band letting their guard down for the first time to return to the seeds of long forgotten ideas.

 

Singer/guitarist and founding member Ian Thornley had this to say about the fall tour, “We are very excited to hit the road and hear these songs grow with the fans. This is still only our 4th studio album, there is still a lot that we want to accomplish, and much of that growth must come from live performance.”

Ex Cops, a nomadic duo featuring Amalie Bruun and Brian Harding, brings the hook-heavy blast of ‘90s alt-rock into a new era on their second album Daggers. Executive produced by icon-of-form Billy Corgan and produced by Justin Raisen (Sky Ferriera, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue), the record rescues guitar-pop from the bedroom, returning it to the stage it deserves.

Formed in 2011, the group’s first album True Hallucinations, released in early 2013, was a critically-acclaimed collection of sprawling indie-pop. From the exuberant “Spring Break (Birthday Song)” to the band’s dreamy debut “You Are A Lion, I Am A Lamb,” the John Siket-produced record (Blonde Redhead, Yo La Tengo) was a genre-jumping opening salvo and its wall-to-wall guitars set the tone for their new album.

Daggers is a musical about-face, though. “We are not afraid of our favorite music anymore,” says Harding. “It’s pop.”

Billy Corgan, in addition to sharing the band’s love of ABBA and taking them to their first wrestling match, provided form and texture to the new tracks over a two week period in Chicago. The band then took the material to LA for tracking with Raisen and continued collaborating with artists like Ariel Pink, who co-wrote“Burnt Out Love” and features on “Tragically Alright.”

The result reinvents modern rock. “White Noise,” with its addictive chorus, merges guitars that could make your teeth ache and a motorik electronic pop pulse. The impeccably-produced “Teenagers” brings club-ready downtown pop to an anthemic peak, while “Black Soap” shifts shoegaze textures to stadium status and “Rooms,” one of the album’s emotionally-resonant ballads, packs a substantial punch.
