BIG GIGANTIC
RETURN TO THE ROAD THIS FALL FOR THE
TOUCH THE SKY TOUR
The night is still young for BIG GIGANTIC, one of the most celebrated acts in live music right now. They have announced they will return to the road on their “Touch The Sky Tour,” their next headlining road trek in 2014 in support of their fifth studio album THE NIGHT IS YOUNG out now.
The month-long tour launches on October 8 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, OH right after BIG GIGANTIC performs with Bassnectar at the famed Madison Square Garden inNew York City. The pair mostly keep east of the Mississippi, making stops in such markets as Grand Rapids, St. Louis, Kansas City, Urbana, IL, Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta and more. Named after The Night Is Young album cut “Touch the Sky”—an electro-leaning dance track drizzled with jazzy sax tones courtesy of BIG GIGANTIC’s Dominic Lalli and live drums per Jeremy Salken—the tour will capture BIG GIGANTIC’s explosive live show at every stop. Sandwiched between their headlining dates will also be four shows featuring BIG GIGANTIC supporting their good friend and recent Bonnaroo Superjam collaborator Skrillex in Columbus, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Amherst, MA.
Prior to the “Touch The Sky Tour,” BIG GIGANTIC will host “ROWDYTOWN III,” their third annual hometown show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Set for Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27, “ROWDYTOWN III” will feature different support lineups for each night, offering fans an even bigger party this year with its expansion to two days.Supporting BIG GIGANTIC on Friday, September 26 will be Brooklyn-based electro-house trio Savoy, Canadian electronic music duo DVBBS, Kansas-based brother duo The Floozies and two tweener sets from producer/DJ Trippy Turtle; Saturday’slineup will feature the newly reunited Toronto trio The New Deal, hip-hop duo Caked Up, Atlanta-based electronic producer HeRobust and another two tweener sets from Trippy Turtle. About BIG GIGANTIC:Formed in 2008, saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli (classically trained with a master’s degree in jazz from the Manhattan School of Music) and drummer Jeremy Salken interpret traditional DJ-based music with live instruments and have successfully created an innovative, distinct sound that’s all their own. Their transcendent live shows are a showcase of brilliant improvisation and a tightly-knit bond between Salken and Lalli, who breathlessly alternates between keys, sax and laptop, building a futuristic wall of sound that keeps the crowd on its feet. The duo leaves no genre off-limits as they channel everything from funk and dubstep to house and hip-hop. Their latest album, THE NIGHT IS YOUNG, was released in February 2014 as a free download on their website www.biggigantic.net, and has already logged over 70,000 downloads to date. The new album marks the fifth album for the duo following Fire It Up (2009), Wide Awake (2009), A Place Behind The Moon (2010) and 2012’s Nocturnal(which has received more than one million downloads to date). BIG GIGANTIC have spent the last few years on various sold-out headlining tours across the country and received rave reviews from their many festival appearances that have included Coachella, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, Hangout, Austin City Limits, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest and Outside Lands among many others.
