"Critically acclaimed Halifax band Wintersleep has enjoyed a pretty amazing year thus far. The band just wrapped up a run of U.S. dates with Wolf Parade and will release its third album Welcome to the Night Sky in the US on November 11th. Wintersleep kicked off 2008 by winning the Juno Award for Best New Artist and a MuchMusic Video Award for “Weighty Ghost”. Following the release of its 2005 self-titled sophomore album, Wintersleep spent months on the road touring through Canada, America and Europe.
Upon return to their native Halifax, the band called upon veteran producer Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals), and retreated to the studio for April and May of 2007.
Welcome to the Night Sky reaches radical new territory for the band, and many critics have already hailed its ‘album of the year’ potential.
