The Lost Weekend is a 13-track aural journey written and recorded completely in Miami. A tour through the album reveals a crate’s worth of infectious club-ready gems sure to set the world’s dance floors alight. The sun, beach, partying and other Miami-related atmospheric characteristics are palpable on the new record. While the album paints a fun, summery portrait, Antoine Becks of SECOND SUN admits that there is a dangerous dark side of the sociable and sometimes decadent lifestyle that defines Miami culture. The Lost Weekend explores both sides of that lifestyle.
From the crushing bass lines of “Howl at the Moon” to the post-trance euphoria of “More Pills,” The Lost Weekend finds SECOND SUN at the peak of their sonic powers. They even meld classic new wave aesthetics into the album, harkening back to the days of eyeliner and trench coats.
In regards to their live set, classically-trained frontman Antoine says, “We’re trying to bring a certain element of showmanship back to dance music. We’re not DJs, we’re live musical performers. Since we come from a rock band background, we’ve always wanted to bring a rock-show-like feel to dance music.”
