No Control, SPIN is streaming the new Turbo Fruits album in full and write, "Turbo Fruits definitely have all the energy and the non-saccharine sweetness that their name implies, and fourth album 'No Control' is a solid 11-track collection of crisp, hook-filled garage-pop songs about love, drugs, death and other rock'n'roll concerns . . . the album breezes along like the springtime, balancing power-pop gems like the quit-while-we're-ahead plea 'Don't Let Me Break Your Heart Again' with weightier fare like the alcoholic confession 'Friends.'" Fans can pre-order the album on iTunes here.
The band is off and running with a North American tour pushing the record release show which started in their hometown of Nashville, and they'll be hitting the road across the country for dates with Eternal Summers and Surfer Blood.
They've seen love for their fresh perspective on No Control, which addresses the uncertainties and fears of relationships, break-ups and losses with a full range of emotion that comes through in refined songwriting and a sharp rock & roll sound that has elements of The Strokes, Big Star and even Cheap Trick. Esquirenoted, "the no-frills mid-tempo rock song is a rare commodity these days, and the good ones never get old," while Entertainment Weekly wrote, "their melodies show a newfound refinement and it delivers an emotional weight that their early stuff lacked." MAGNET raved of the Patrick Carney produced "The Way I Want You," saying "the song shows progression to a more serious style for the band, though under it all you can tell these guys are just who they've always been," and Consequence of Sound wrote, "still replete with the band's catchy garage stylings, the track displays a self-awareness above the quartet's partying personas." While the band hasn't lost its characteristic sound and personality, Jonas Stein of the band says, "we put some real heart and soul into it, and it's my favorite Turbo Fruits album yet."
No Control arrives April 20th, 2015 on all formats, including a deluxe limited edition package on 180 gram vinyl with a very special 4/20 surprise - Turbo Fruits rolling papers (available via pre-order only here).
"Turbo Fruits are one of my favorite bands from Nashville and they are also some of my favorite people from Nashville. I'm excited about their new album and glad they let me help out in making some of it." Patrick Carney (The Black Keys)
"By a mile my favorite rock band right now." Todd Snider (Hard Working Americans)
