Are you familiar with Adam Franklin?
Perhaps you know of a little band called "Swervedriver?"
From 1990 to 1998 Adam Franklin was the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for London-based Swervedriver; contemporaries of and label mates with My Bloody Valentine and Ride but with a more adrenalized rock 'n' roll sound, showing flashes of Husker Du and Sonic Youth. Then from 1999 to 2006 Adam recorded and toured as Toshack Highway, a gentler but no less inventive folky/electronic/film-soundtracky hybrid, releasing a full album and flurry of EPs, split releases, seven inch singles and the like. Now, he is on tour promoting his latest album, Spent Bullets. This show is sure to be a great one!
Opening will be the boys and girls of Detroit's own Oblisk. Oblisk is happy to present a psychedelic wall of sound for your enjoyment. Singer Asim Akhtar takes a page from the book of Black Sabbath era Ozzy Osbourne and is backed by a capable group of musicians reminiscent of early Jefferson Airplane and the Black Hollies with just a twinge of folk. Breezy guitars, explosive drums and dark grooves make it rock. Solar Temple Cult is the new psychedelia out of Friends of Dennis Wilson frontman Tony Moran's mind. It is sure to end up blowing yours!
