CELEBRATE SUMMER AT THE THIRD ANNUAL HAZEL PARK ART FAIR!

Green Acres Park is the place to be the weekend of August 23 & 24 when the Hazel Park Art Fair celebrates the summer by painting the green space with art, music, food and more! The fair is FREE to attend and all are welcome.

The third edition of the Hazel Park Art Fair will continue its mission to showcase local artists and artisans and bring eclectic music to the stage. Partial proceeds from the fair will be donated to the Promise Zone College Fund that provides tuition for high school graduates in the community. ()

Some of the dozens of artists and artisans featured are the dollmakers CreepynCute Shop, 9 Designs Emporium, artists Steven Gamburd, Cory Thompson, Heather Manasco, Dollie Dagger, and the organizer of the Fair - artist Julie Fournier - will also display her works of art from her Smiling Eyes Studio. Only visual art/artisans such as sculptures, jewelry makers, metalworks and paintings will be featured - not product vendors - in order to keep the integrity as an “art fair.”
White Shag
16 diverse bands will play over the weekend including hard rockers White Shag, jazzy art rockers Spaceband, the blues rock of Renegade Soul, the new-agey primitive sound of Casino, indie rock from Bastion and psychedelic prog-rock by Blue Black Hours

Homestyle food will be provided by the local Country Boy restaurant and Millard's Catering will offer up Polish fare such as pierogis and other delights. Royal Oak's Millking It Productions will feature their “Craft beer in a can” and will be pouring up their beverages to fair goers.

Producing the fair is a labor of love for organizer Julie Fournier, a local artist who exhibits her paintings and crafts at many of the other local festivals. After another downtown Detroit art festival ceased, a fellow artist suggested to Fournier that she should start one. With her years of experience attending festivals, she decided to start one in her community of Hazel Park to benefit the area and also raise some money for a worthy cause. Three years later the festival continues to broaden its horizons and benefit the city of Hazel Park which is slowly becoming a new home for artists with unique venues such as The Phoenix Cafe.

The Hazel Park Art Fair will be held on Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Green Acres Park located at 620 W. Woodward Heights (9 ½ Mile) in Hazel Park
