Come in Wonder - Leave in Awe
Friday April 4th 2008 - 7pm - Midnight

STUDIO 601
601 Washington Blvd (at Congress and across from Cobo Hall)
Detroit, MI 48226

Studio 601 will present the artwork of Red, Julie Fournier and Ed Gardiner.

Red
Red is a prolific artist whom expresses herself in many mediums. She writes, paints, models, sings and is currently exploring color, texture, and self-expression in abstract design. Red has lived in the city, country, and suburbia. She moved back to Detroit when she left home at the age of sixteen. She started traveling overseas at the age of seventeen, even staying in Lomé, Togo during the summer of 2006 to do some work with the local elementary schools.
Red uses various art forms as a window to her soul and an outlet to purge her memories and feelings. She is a passionate and eccentric lady with a fiery zeal for life who thrives on opportunities to dance with change and flirt with chaos.

Julie Fournier
Born in Detroit in 1965, Julie Fournier's work explores how innovations and events of the last 40 years have impacted our lives, psyches and relationships with one another. She founded SmilingEyes Studio in 1997, and in 2005 graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Industrial Design, Cum Laude. Known by many for her oil paintings, she's far from satisfied practicing one discipline; Julie considers herself a multi-media artist. Neo Realism best describes her style. Referred to as a "news reporter" because she is inspired by often overlooked aspects of daily life, she challenges traditional notions of beauty, social class and human interaction through her work as an artist.

Ed Gardiner (Edge)
From posters in Detroit in the early 70's to post apocalyptic sculptures of found objects from the back alleys of Rodeo Drive in 80's LA, Edge has weathered and flourished in the uncertain currents of pop culture and the edgier underground world of outsider art.
An artist, film-maker and producer of some of the hippest events in San Francisco, LA and Detroit, Edge has lived many a Forrest Gump moment and continues to set the pace as he creates an artful life.
Detroit is his birthplace, his home and as a city between breaths where anything is possible, the canvas he has chosen to work with. It is here in Detroit that Edge has been reborn, a warrior for a created world, a world where art, music and culture reign.
