CONFAB
Forum to showcase live presentations and creative work by local artistic talents at the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit
Monday April 21st 2008
Award-winning architectural firm Rossetti, in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit (CAID) is hosting its first annual CONFAB event, a showcase of live presentations and discussions by local designers, artists, musicians, writers and all creative minds, on Monday, April 21, 2008 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission to the event is free to the public as well as to those wishing to showcase their work.
Based on a format devised by Klein Dytham and Pecha Kucha in 2003, CONFAB is a place for creative individuals to meet, network, and show their work in a public forum. Each presenter (artist, architect, musician/band, poet, performer or other creatives) is allowed 6 minutes and 40 seconds of time before the next presenter. Anything goes. Presenters may show images of work or they can actually set up a full band or performance. Digital projectors, laptops, sound engineering, DVD players and other technical tools will be provided by CAID.
“The Detroit area has an incredible pool of creative individuals whose work often doesn’t get nearly enough exposure,” said Kelly Deines, IIDA, director of interior design and of the hospitality practice in Rossetti’s Detroit office. “We wanted a forum for local creatives to meet, network, and show their work in public, for their own professional growth, as well as to enhance the cultural experience and landscape for metro Detroiters.”
The Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit is located 5141 Rosa Parks Blvd., Detroit. For more information or to register as a presenter contact Kelly Deines at Rossetti, (248) 262-8300.
