Saturday night, Western Michigan's beloved Greensky Bluegrass will make their debut appearance at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. Greensky Bluegrass is not the highly structured traditional music that most people think of when they hear the word 'bluegrass.' Rather, Greensky makes their own take on the genre, in what's often called 'newgrass,' due to their infusion of rock and jazz rhythms. Their nontraditional bluegrass covers of Pink Floyd's classics 'Time' and 'Welcome to the Machine' and Talking Heads 'Road to Nowhere' are among the best covers of those songs we've heard and a truly novel take on bluegrass.
