When I was living in Los Angeles one of my favorite shows on the tele was MADtv
Artie Lange was on that show for a brief stint and working in the industry I heard a couple rousers about his antics on and off the set - obviously now all that past him he is looking down on all of us as the comedy sidekick of Howard Stern - check him out when he comes to Detroit in the fall.
Comedian, actor and Howard Stern Show regular Artie Lange will perform
Oct. 9 at the Detroit Opera House – but this isn't just another stop
on his tour. Lange offered to come to Detroit and perform for free
after receiving a touching letter from a local fan, Ross Niskar.
You see, Ross' brother, Adam Niskar became paralyzed after a fateful
dive he took into an area lake in 1999. After reading in Lange's book,
Too Fat To Fish, that Artie's father was also paralyzed, Ross felt
compelled to reach out.
He asked whether Artie might assist in a fundraising effort for
Friends for Adam, a trust the Niskar family established shortly after
the accident. It assists with Adam's ongoing medical expenses. Nearly
every year Ross has organized a benefit party. For the 10th
anniversary he intended to surpass his previous efforts and truly make
it a night to remember.
Joining in the performance will be opener Mike Young, a Southfield
native and comedian who resides in Los Angeles. Mike is a friend of
the Niskar family and will be in town as part of the Young American
Comedy Tour
