SERIES OF THE FALL MUSIC FESTIVAL AT THE NEW CENTER PARK
While Cityfest is now history, Detroit's New Center Park will rock for three
days straight when local rock n' roll impresario Stirling returns to host
the "1st Series of the Fall" music festival from Thursday, September 23 to
Saturday, September 25 at the new concert venue.
New Center Park-formerly the Park Stage during Cityfest- was revamped into
an outdoor concert venue earlier this Summer.
The venue has hosted various free concerts on the weekends featuring local
jazz and rock bands.
Former Park Stage promoter Stirling was invited back to bring you some of
the best local acts together for one weekend.
Starting on Thursday night, the festival begins at 6pm with the jazz sounds
of Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, featuring special guest musicians from the
local jazz community.
Friday night's festivities start at 8pm and features eclectic pop chanteuse
Hayley Jane, the modern rock sounds of The Drags, the electronic sounds of
Charlie Slick and country rock from Doop & The Inside Outlaws.
Saturday night the music continues, featuring the pop trio Fireking, rock
troubadours Timothy Monger State Park, old-school rock n' roll from the
Danny Kroha 3 and the psychedelic sounds of The Electric Lion Sound Wave
Experiment will close out the weekend.
The shows start at 8pm and are FREE to attend.
The New Center Park is located on the southwest corner of Second Avenue and
West Grand Boulevard across from the Fisher Building.
The renovated park venue additions include a pub-style bar and outdoor
grill, lawn and patio seating, wireless internet access,
an outdoor fire pit, a newly installed sound system, and dedicated park
restrooms.
