and Live Piano and Organ
Friday September 10 @ 8pm
Saturday September 11 @ 2pm and 8pm
This Friday, September 10, and Saturday, September 11, the Redford Theatre presents The African Queen (35mm print, 1951) starring Humphrey Bogart (Oscar for Best Actor in Leading Role) and Katharine Hepburn. This print was restored for use at the May 2010 Cannes Film Festival in France. Friday's screening is at 8 pm, and there will be two showings on Saturday at 2 pm and 8 pm. All tickets are general admission, and cost is $4.00 which includes free parking. The Redford Theatre is located at the NE corner of Grand River Ave. and Lahser Rd. in the heart of Detroit's Old Redford neighborhood.
Patrons get much more than a great movie experience on the Redford's silver screen. This week will feature the Redford's original theatre pipe organ and piano music, followed by a classic cartoon.
Live Music: Welcoming tunes from the lobby piano set the mood when the box office and doors open 1 hour before showtime. Then the spotlight shifts to the auditorium with the heartfelt rendition of the Star Spangled Banner followed by a half-hour of lively music by Stephen Warner (Friday), Gil Francis (Saturday 2pm), and John Lauter (Saturday 8pm).
Cartoon: Flip Flap (the Seal) (Paramount, TechniColor, 1948) will precede the show.
