Emily Seward will perform a unique blend of Popular and Classical Organ music at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish Church on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 4:00 pm.
The public is welcome and there is no admission charge.
Ss. Peter and Paul church is located at 7685 Grandville just West of Southfield freeway and North of Warren Rd. in a quiet neighborhood near Dearborn Heights.
When Southfield native Emily Seward was four years old
she told her parents that she was going to be an organist.
If “organist” conjures images of ponderous church music and majestic wedding scenes strike that from your mind and picture this: At 14 years old she has begun to carve a niche in the music world which bridges the musical divides between the cyber-Pop of today with the music of the ages. Equally comfortable at the helm of a Classical Organ console or a Theatre Organ, Emily might just begin to change your mind about what a pipe organ can do and what it can sound like. If variety is the spice of life then Emily has the seasoning for your taste.
Among the varied selections you will hear Bernard Hermann’s “Psycho”, the “Raider’s March” by John Williams, Louis Vierne’s “Carillon de Westminster”, a 1920’s fop-pop number called “Flapperette” and much more spanning many musical generations and styles.
In 2008, she began playing Theatre organ movie Overtures at the Redford Theatre and was honored to be nominated and win the ATOS Student of the Year award in 2008. Emily is a staff organist at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, MI and at the Collingwood Center Theatre in Toledo, Ohio.

On the Classical side of the tracks, Emily currently plays as an intern at Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Detroit under the tutelage of Mr. Johnny Kash.
