The fourth annual 24-Hour Drum Marathon kicks off at 2 a.m. on May 15 at The Blind Dog.
This event benefits local charity Transition to Betterness.
“My opportunities as a musician have provided me with resources that I can take advantage of for charity,” said Burrows. “I became involved with T2B after a very personal experience and have raised over $250,000.”
Transition to Betterness enhances hospital rooms to create a homelike atmosphere for cancer patients and their families. Burrows’ past events include meet-and-greet packages, 12 online music memorabilia auctions and three drum marathons.
Drumming professionally for over 16 years, Burrows’ hits the radio waves in Windsor as midday host on CKUE FM The Rock. His current musical venture, Crash Karma, made its live premiere at last year’s drum-a-thon in May 2009. The band’s self-titled first album debuted inside the Top 40 on the Top 200 Album Chart, and claimed the #3 spot on the Indie Album Chart.
The event features local band and guest performances, as well as an opportunity for kids to drum a song with Burrows.
