The Ghost of Maynard
Maynard Keenan James lived up to his usual behaviour as being almost invisible on stage. Puscifer, one of many of Maynard’s side projects played to a sold out crowd at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. Originally scheduled to perform at The Royal Oak Music Theatre, the band had to be relocated to a venue that could provide Puscifer with a larger stage.
One could only wonder what type of antics were about to take place.
The set started with Maynard pulling out many props and narration to complete the stage setup. Including a small camper, tables, and the drum kit set up on a wagon.
This concert was more of a theatrical stage performance with props being more predominant that the “actors” themselves. It reminded me of a school play with better props and famous musicians. If you are expecting a Tool concert, you will be disappointed. If you open up your mind to the world of Maynard Keenan James and expect the unexpected you will be pleasantly surprised.
New album, "Conditions of My Parole," available Oct. 18.
