THIS WEEKEND: Greensky Bluegrass @ Majestic

One of Michigan's hottest bands, Greensky Bluegrass is playing 12/30 and 12/31 at the Majestic Theater in Detroit. Come ring in the New Year all weekend long as these masters of melding psychedelic rock and bluegrass instrumentation melt faces and blow minds. Not your typical bluegrass outfit, Greensky's musicians play with an ever-growing array of effects pedals as they cover songs by Prince, Talking Heads, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and many more. Not just a phenomenal cover band, Greensky Bluegrass' features exquisitely written and arranged original numbers that could only come from those who call Michigan home.

Opening for Greensky on both nights is Ann Arbor's premier insanity band The Macpodz who are sure to get the party rolling early on with their funked out instrumentation that combines skillful musicianship and soulful chops. These are two shows that you should plan on staying the whole damn night!
