TRAITS record release 1/17 at Loving Touch

Five years ago while experimenting with Indie-Rock sounds using loop pedals in a acoustically challenged basement located on the east side of Detroit , Traits was born. Blessed with a $79 Casio keyboard and a humble Electric guitar, Sean Shea and Michael Seger, stumbled upon a sound that would unknowingly change both of their lives. After creating countless 4-8 measure loops and releasing two tracks entitled "Dead Air" and "Dec 21st", the decision was made to add three additional member, Sam S. Armeni, Domenic Cam, and Megan Marcoux, who also had a unique sound. Although it was not their intention, when the two sounds collided a new genre was born. This new sound, a combination of pop ballads and upbeat indie rock, quickly captured the attention of WHFR 89.3 radio host Margaret White, who said "the music can't be put into a hole, its a very eclectic sound. (its) super tight indie pop that blew us away".

Stretching the barriers of what is " normal " in Detroit Indie music, Traits is anything but normal. Drawing inspiration from The Beatles, Modest Mouse, The Strokes, Tame Impala, and Twin Shadow, they haven't been able to put a finger on exactly what to call this new genre of music. With lyrical content stemming directly from happenings in their lives, Shea and Seger, attempt to display a specific feeling where melodies and lyrical content support an emotional spark within the listener.

Traits is excited to release to their fans and soon to be fans 9 self produced singles at the Loving touch in Ferndale , Michigan on Friday, January 17 at 9pm. "We felt the Loving Touch was the perfect place to share our sound since it is a place where music is uniquely celebrated" said Seger. Their Upcoming release features the single "Ready to love" which has been featured on Alt rock station 88.7 89X . To connect with Traits go to www.traitsdetroit.com.
