The museum has an excellent digital projector and theatre style screening room.
An added bonus is that moviegoers can bring food and drinks (even ALCOHOL!) to the screening. Yes, it's BYOB at the MMP for those that would like to put down a few during the shorts. Or put back a few shots . . . .

8/5 MITTEN MOVIE PROJECT – PROGRAM NOTES
Tuesday August 5th 2008 - 7:30 p.m.
Door $10

The Mitten Movie Project is a monthly film night dedicated to screening independent films the first Tuesday of every month.

Free parking is available in the museum parking lot off Kirby Street between Woodward Avenue and Cass Avenue (push the white button on the parking lot callbox to be let in the lot).

Presale tickets are available for $8 at www.myspace.com/mittenmovieproject. Tickets at the door are $10. A pre-screening reception starts at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby where moviegoers can mingle with the directors, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts.

After the screening, a Q&A session will be conducted with the filmmakers in the auditorium.
An afterglow party will be held at the Bronx Bar (4476 Second Avenue, Detroit 48201) where moviegoers can discuss the night’s films, play tunes from the best juke box in Detroit, and have a drink with local filmmakers.

DAUGHTER? [trailer] – SuperHouse (01:42) (Michigan) Christina is trying to juggle work, school and her social life, which are all contrasting against each other and the relationship with her abusive mother. BRIEF: THE STORY OF BLOODBOIL – Directed by Frank Geist (11:30) (Michigan) A mockumentary about the death metal band, BloodBoil. This short highlights the highs and lows of a rock band and shows how musical personalities can clash.

The agendas of large corporations have a heavy say in what we eat, but there is a group of students in East Lansing – the Student Organic Farm -- trying to supply a remedy. This short documentary shows their story.

LIVING IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON-DOG: A SOUTH POLE DIARY – Directed by Paul Daniels (16:45) (Antarctica) Moon-Dog captures the winter over the life of 15 scientists and 35 crew members at the U.S. Antarctic research station “South Pole,” located on the harshest continent on the planet.
