With everyone talking about SXSW music this week we thought that we would post something about the tech side and we liked this one we got from Gigotron - read more below
Official showcase on Thursday 3/19 at Club 1808 in Austin
You ever find yourself wandering around aimlessly, wanting to check out some live music but you don't know where to go? Enter Gigotron, the free music finder app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Think of it like Fandango for live music. The new version, set to release right before SXSW, will expand beyond its first version's outreach with nationwide service. Don't have an iPhone or iPod touch? An online version will be available for the first time at www.gigotron.com.
Gigotron will be making some waves in Austin in just two short weeks including a local three band concert coinciding with the Interactive festival and a full-blown showcase during the Music portion -- and both are free and open to the general public! The service has also been nominated for two awards at the Interactive festival — iPhone app is up for the Mobile award and is also an Accelerator nominee in the music category.
Gigotron is going to be especially handy for those SXSW-ers as it’s going to provide up-to-date info for all of the events going down in Austin. You’ll be able to get info, set times and locations for all of the showcases and parties, along with individual artist info, photos and iTunes links. Directions and maps will be available to every venue and there will even be the capability to share with others.
