I wanted to touch on each of the musical acts and photographers besides the press release links and blurbs that usually would be included:
Ken's Loud Band
12MN-12:45am
These guys are an amazing set of musicians who have recorded 400+ songs over 15 years and have only played out live twice in that time. Listen to the MP3s on this site and you will have no doubt that this is a band you need to see on stage. The most recent gig was a showing at The Heidelberg in Ann Arbor with The Ruiners and we are super stoked to have them playing MCB5 and even more thrilled to see and hear them play in an acoustically perfect room.
Electric Fire Babies
11:00pm-11:45pm
I try not to play favorites on MCB but fuck it - I think EFB is one of the most unique and fun musical acts to come out of Dietroit in the past few years. I catch myself starting to dance every time I see them live and I don't even dance!
Check out the first of many times MCB covered EFB below
Mick Bassett & The Marthas
10:15pm-10:45pm
When I was working to secure the lineup for MCB5 we had a few hiccups at the last minute and had to replace GOREVETTE on the bill....I ran into Mick Bassett after his set at the CAID's D3D photo show and was very pleased that he was down to play MCB5. MB&TM are one of those bands that after you see them perform live you want to catch every show they play from that point on....if you like MB&TM - you DO NOT want to miss them play at The Jazz Cafe....its going to be an amazing set that you will never forget.
The Lincolns UK
9:30pm-10:00pm
MCB pal and local detroit artist Marc Nischan heads up this gritty 3 piece with his wife Jennifer and friend and local film maker Mikey Brown. All three have been involved in amazing projects in the past including Planet Ant Theatre - Twilight Babies and Twistin' Tarantulas.
TLUK just released their debut record "Hot Blonde Bitches" and its bad ass early detroit punk style really gets you going and we are geared to see them tear up the stage this saturday night.
Satori Circus and Friends
9:00-9:30pm
Detroit's hardest working artisan will be roaming the musical halls all night and performing with his friends on stage some of the hodge podge theatre you love
Kinetic Stereokids
8:15pm-8:45pm
If you haven't heard of KSK you are really in for a treat...i have yet to see them live but dig the music so much that MCB has been promoters of this talented band from Flint for a few years now. Check out the video below for a taste of KSK
Blase' Splee
7:30pm-8:00pm
Get to the MCB5 early for one of most promising young bands to hit the mean streets of Detroit.
Delivering catchy songs that bounce from genre to genre without really committing to one or another. Its like watching a multitude of bands at the same show.
