ZAMBRI
"W/ Somebody" Official Video

It started with two sisters, Jessica and Cristi Jo, of New York. A couple of guys and a girl later, they became what we now know as Zambri. The sisters write the songs and sing (with surprisingly huge voices for little bodies). Then join Chris, Andy and Carrie (who is seen playing electronics with her boots). Zambri generated some buzz after releasing their self-titled, debut EP last year, and became one amongst the few unsigned bands, to participate as an official act at both the CMJ & SXSW music festivals. Zambri recently won Deli Magazine "Artist Of The Month"and featured as the The Guardian "Band Of The Day". Blogs and magazines try to pinpoint their unique sound, having compared them to the likes of Kate Bush, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Siouxsie, Bjork, Elastica, Cocteau Twins, New Order, and My Bloody Valentine. They are currently working on their debut album, and playing some national tour dates this fall/winter. "Bang For Changes" EP is available now digitally, enjoy a track from the release "Easier" for free download.

The eerily melodic first single "Salvation" showcases dark wave harmonies that overlay a haunting melody. The single is accompanied by stellar remixes by Don Diablo, Tittsworth, Dan Sena, Dirty Disco Youth and the band's own mix.

THE BRIAN JONSTOWN MASSACE RETURNS
WITH WHO KILLED SGT. PEPPER?
** Band’s Tenth Album Set for Release on February 23rd **

The Brian Jonestown Massacre is back and set to release their tenth studio album, Who Killed Sgt. Pepper? on February 23rd. The 13-track album was recorded throughout 2009 in Iceland and Berlin and features Spaceman 3 legend Will Carruthers on bass, vocalist Unnur Andrea Einarsdottir and a variety of international musicians contributing textures not previously heard on a BJM album. It is to be released on bandleader Anton Newcombe’s own label, “a recordings LTD”, distributed though Red Eye.

The album marks the return of guitarist/vocalist Matt Hollywood, an original member/co-founder of the band who helped write some of the BJM’s classic material from their early albums (Strung Out In Heaven, Their Satanic Majesties Second Request, Take It From The Man, Spacegirl & Other Oddities, Give It Back) as well as penning the infamous dig at the Dandy Warhols, “Not If You Were The Last Dandy on Earth”.

Though this is the band’s most multi-cultured release to date -- featuring ambient Bhangra beats and gypsy influences of Eastern Europe music -- it retains much of the trademark style that The Brian Jonestown Massacre has honed since their inception in 1994.

Sub City is pleased to announce that the highly anticipated Take Action Volume 9 charity compilation is available via pre-sale today at www.takeactiontour.com. For $6 fans can pre-order the 2CD set and for $12 they will also receive, in addition to the two disc set, a special Take Action shirt. The tour compilation will be available at shows and in stores February 9, and will include exclusive songs, acoustics, and remix tracks from We The Kings, Mayday Parade, 30H!3, Cobra Starship, Taking Back Sunday, There For Tomorrow, Frank Turner, The Friday Night Boys, Anarbor, and Hit The Lights, among others.

The charity spotlighted for Take Action in 2010 is Driving For Donors, the brainchild of now 14-year-old Patrick Pedraja who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 10. In 2007, at age 11, Patrick and his family started Driving For Donors and traveled around the country in a special “Donormobile” with the mission of signing people up for the National Marrow Registry to help find bone marrow matches for people in need of a transplant. Since then they have added over 22,000 donors to the registry and saved more than 24 people’s lives with matches. Sub City has raised millions of dollars and awareness for various charitable organizations that aim to make the world a better place and 5% of the suggested retail price for each Take Action Volume 9 set sold will be donated to further this cause.

10% of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to further Patrick's mission making each person attending the Take Action Tour an active participant in making the world a better place. In addition Take Action is offering fans an opportunity to personally help save a life with onsite registration for the National Marrow Registry available at every tour stop. Registration is simple and only requires the donor to be between the ages of 18 and 61, have a desire to help save a life, and have time for a quick cheek swab and simple paperwork. Registering is much easier than most people think and information about the entire process can be found at BeTheMatch.org. Those under 18 will have plenty of ways to support the cause as well, including buying a copy of the compilation, and they can learn more at each show or by visiting drivingfordonors.com.
Take Action thanks, our many great sponsors of the tour. Presenting sponsor Hot Topic has worked with the Take Action Tour since the tour's inception in 1999 and their commitment to helping make a positive impact continues to be as strong in 2010 as it has ever been. The music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com) is a natural fit as a presenter, because they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Expect to find the Take Action Compilation Volume 9 in local Hot Topic stores and to see the bands from the tour making several special appearances throughout the tour. Also generously supporting the 2010 tour is MySpace Music, Alternative Press Magazine, Absolutepunk.net, Touch Tunes, Hopeless Records, S-Curve Records, Atlantic Records, Fueled By Ramen Records, and MySpace Records.
ROGUE WAVE
PERMALIGHT
MARCH 2, 2010

New Single "Good Morning"
iTunes - Download

Now we’re born again,” sings Zach Rogue on the closing track of Rogue Wave’s fourth studio album, Permalight. The dreamy acoustic lament lasts just over a minute but in sound and spirit it neatly sums up everything that comes before it. A punchy, deceptively effervescent set of multi-instrumental pop tunes, the Northern California band’s latest set represents a giant breakthrough for Rogue and his longtime musical partner, drummer-keyboardist- vocalist Pat Spurgeon.

“The record sounds, for lack of a better word, fun,” the frontman says. It’s an
astonishing change of direction, to say the least. Formed by Rogue in 2002
after he lost his tech job and parted ways with the Oakland rock group Desoto Reds, Rogue Wave has a reputation for crafting classic, inward-looking pop songs highlighted with psychedelic guitars, pastoral sound effects and intricate rhythms. On tunes from the new album like the title track “Permalight” and “Good Morning,” however, Rogue Wave steps away from expectations.
Rogue says the former was written as a left-field sequel to Kool and the Gang’s
“Celebration,” with synthesizers that simultaneously sound brittle and blissful.
“Stars and Stripes” builds on a deep groove before spilling over in a raging chorus. Clubby beats are prominent but the album doesn’t sit still for long. “Per Anger” is a straightforward rock tune that takes its cues from Pixies’ loud-quiet-loud dynamic.
Then there’s the album’s unofficial centerpiece, “I’ll Never Leave You,” a simple acoustic tune that finds Rogue coming to grips with the overwhelming emotions that come with young fatherhood. Like many of the songs on the album it’s rooted in Rogue Wave’s triumph over seemingly constant peril -- including the tragic death of a former band mate and constant health issues -- and the band’s undying determination to push forward. Making this album was no exception.

In September 2008, after the band returned to Oakland following a summer tour, Rogue played a solo show opening for Nada Surf. Two days later, the
singer woke up and couldn’t move. There was some concern that he might be
having an aneurysm or heart attack, so doctors wheeled an X-ray machine into
his living room to check his heart and lungs. It turns out Rogue had slipped two
discs in his neck, which were pressing on his spinal cord. “It was the worst pain I had experienced,” he says. Over the next few months, his condition grew worse until he eventually lost feeling in his right hand. Confined to his bed, there was nothing doctors could
do for him, no medications that could relieve his pain. “I just felt like I was being
tortured,” Rogue says. “I felt like I was dying.” In January, the pain began to gradually lift, giving him just enough sensation to pick up the guitar and strum it. He celebrated
the recovery the best way he knew, by pouring his relief into new material. “When
I started writing I wanted to make a record that was a little more up, a record you
could move your body to because I couldn’t move for so long,” Rogue says. “I told Pat I wanted to make a total dance album.” To do that Rogue decided to make a conscious break from the past. “I decided when I picked up the guitar again I didn’t want to play anything I knew,” he says.
“Even if that meant yelling into the microphone or detuning a guitar, I wanted
to record all those ideas.”

DRINK UP BUTTERCUP
Tossed out into a Sea of Normal

Like children, songs are born of mysterious unions, hidden from prying eyes and ears till maturity
before being thrown into the harsh realities of the "real life." Embracing this analogy to its fullest,
Drink Up Buttercup will release a live video document of every song from their debut record,
stripped of studio trickery & audio comfort zones, embracing the strange surroundings they find
themselves in - basements filled with balloons, children’s playgrounds and old folks homes.. One
new track will be released every Tuesday, culminating, on March 23rd, with the release of their debut LP Born and Thrown on a Hook.

The project begins Jan. 12th as it should, in the basement of Jim & Farzad's parents’
houses with the record’s opening track "Seasickness Pills."

Check out the singer songwriter Doug Keith, who used to be in the punk trio The Gods Hate Kansas and now who now writes raw songs like “The Lucky Ones”

http://www.myspace.com/douglaskeith

http://www.dougkeith.com/

Doug Keith, an exceptional artist and performer, is set to release his new full-length, The Lucky Ones, in March, 2010 (exact date tbc). The Lucky Ones, an 11-song collection on indie imprint The Village Label, vividly showcases Keith’s strengths as a guitarist and songwriter, capturing significant emotional truths in every song. The material on The Lucky Ones ranges from the acoustic starkness of "We Left Everything," to the surging electricity of "The Lucky Ones," to the buoyant textures of "Skip James Radio." His simple-yet-poignant lyrics are layered over soaring instrumental arrangements that are expertly tailored to create distinct aural atmospheres. The link connecting each track is Keith’s weathered, knowing voice, and the results are nothing short of breathtaking. Although The Lucky Ones is only his second full-length solo album, Keith is no stranger to the studio or the life of a touring musician. Music has been his passion for years, and it shows in the beauty and intimacy of his current work. Keith started his career playing bass with punk trio The Gods Hate Kansas, and went on to play with several other punk/avant-garde bands, including noted noise-rock combo Up the Empire. But Keith always worked on his own material, releasing a four-song EP and half of a split 7" single under the name The First Person to See an Elephant. Here’s to Outliving Me, his official solo debut in January of 2009, was the first release under his own name and his introduction to international audiences. With The Lucky Ones, Keith delivers a moving batch of songs that are a worthy follow-up – and natural progression – to his stunning debut. Keith’s songs are honest and the emotions are pure, and this comes across in his raw beautiful live performances.

Keith is playing select US tour dates: 02/10: Pittsburgh, PA @ Howler's Coyote02/11: Columbus, OH @ The Treehouse

02/12: Ann Arbor, MI @ Hathaway Hideaway

“In My Blood” is Sharam Jey’s long-awaited forthcoming second artist album
and he’s really taken things to the next level. Not happy to settle for mediocrity, he’s worked hard and pushed things to unexpected heights, working with a host of amazing collaborators that really vary the sounds of the record and take you by surprise.

The first taste of the new album came courtesy of the Princess Superstar featured “Monday Morning” single but things got a little hotter and rougher when he teamed up with his first of three breath-taking collaborations with Australia’s Nik Valentino (of Lost Valentinos) for the album’s title track “In My Blood”.

Other froth-inducing collaborations on the record include Tommie Sunshine, Andreas Hogby (of Swede rockers Torpedo) and the fantastic Cornelia, who has the sickly sweet vocals of an angel set for mischief. However, it’s his ongoing collaborations with Nik Valentino that really steal our hearts back to the dance-floor, as they set temperatures soaring and pulses racing. “In My Blood” shows Sharam in his very best form yet, even the levels you’d come to expect from him until now have been thrown off the Richter-scale as he gets set to take us by the hand and lead us through 2010 with that ultimate ease only he’s capable of.

Army of Men features the syrupy sweet vocal stylings of Swedish chanteuse Cornelia, who’s been hotly-tipped as one to watch after critics and fans alike fell for her dulcet tones with the recent release of her EP Capsule.

This is one track that’s set to catch audiences all off-guard, getting the ladies up on their feet and dancefloor-forth, as the men fall head first in lust with the charm of Cornelia’s vocals weaved around a stalking beat, that sounds made just for her to swing ever-so gently upon.
