Calling All Bands!!!!
Hi everyone, just wanted to post a quick little blurb concerning the recent event down in Haiti. My station, WXOU 88.3FM is planning to organize a benefit concert tentatively next Wednesday, January 20th from 10am-10pm LIVE from the Pioneer Food Court in The Oakland Center to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. They will be doing this with the help of CSA and other student organizations. In addition to being live in the OC, they'll also be simulcasting this event live on WXOU.
If you know any bands that are interested, please contact WXOU
and ask for Erik Anderson or Kirby Hairston.
The number is 248-370-4273.
We heard also that the Magic Stick Detroit is planning
a benefit concert as well for Jan 29th
If anyone would be interested in donating their time
to help raise funds, please hit them up ASAP
They are looking for bands to play 20 minute sets.

Also, R&B singer Teddy Pendergrass, who was one of the most electric and successful figures in music until a car crash 28 years ago left him in a wheelchair, has died of colon cancer. He was 59. Pendergrass first rose to fame as lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes in the 1970s before embarking on a successful solo career at the end of the decade. Among his hit songs are hit singles like "The More I Get the More I Want," "Close the Door," "I Don't Love You Anymore," "Turn Off the Lights" and a 1984 ballad "Hold Me" (a duet with a then-unknown Whitney Houston).
