Wild At Heart
Tonight is your last chance to see a horror film that will push your comfort level like most movies refuse to reach for. It tells the story of a crazed surgeon who surgically joins three victims together, mouth to anus (yes you read that correctly), to form a human centipede-like bioform. Tom Six has stated that the inspiration for the film came from a joke he always made to friends about punishing people who were nasty or annoying by stitching their mouths to the ass of a fat truck driver. The film sees 2 American female tourists whose car has broken down and a kidnapped male Japanese tourist who is taken by the German doctor (shades of WWII) and forced into this repulsive experiment. The procedure itself is supposed to be scientifically accurate which makes it even worse for the squeamish. The acting is a bit cornball but once we get into the kidnappings and seeing their fate, this is a serious horror fans love fest. In the horror community, more often it is not the script but the inventiveness and utter disgustingness of the acts that appeals to the fans that one sees in films like "Hostel", "Saw" and numerous other movies of this type. Those who are the readers of magazines like Fangoria will love this movie and more mainstream audience members might want to stay home. I almost threw up about 5 times during the film which says something about the grossness of some scenes. Not for the weak of heart. I give the movie "Human Centipede" a grade of B-.
