Join us for an evening of Americana music featuring The Matchsellers. a bluegrass duo from Kansas City headlining the night. They are on a winter tour in support of their new album “Kosciusko County” that was recently released on Dec. 27, 2014.
The Matchsellers is the unlikely result of a classically trained violinist (Julie Bates) from Kansas City, MO and a Chicago blues guitarist (Andrew Morris) from Warsaw, Indiana meeting in Leipzig, Germany and forming a bluegrass duo. During their year of living and working as ex-pats in the former East Germany, the pair began reanalyzing the songs of their homeland and developed a tight, yet gritty, bluegrass style. In the summer of 2013 they left their jobs to hit the road and haven’t looked back.
Since then they have toured Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, and 21 US states, averaging 170 shows a year. The Matchsellers have become known for their excellent musicianship, tight vocal harmonies and an entertaining, high-energy stage show best experienced live. Faithful bluegrass traditionals and blues-infused originals are peppered with German songs and various folk covers for a diverse set list.
Performing will be:
• Escaping Pavement - They call their music “Americana on the rocks” so expect a more upbeat rockin' style!
• Cold Tone Harvest - The Michigan indie folk trio have released the album “Layers” that also aptly describes their acoustic folk sound.
• Behind The Times - Behind The Times is an acoustic trio which blends influences from bluegrass, country, jazz, and popular favorites.
