THE WEDDING PRESENT PLAY BIZARRO LIVE IN ITS ENTIRETY IN APRIL 2010 TO COMMEMORATE THE ALBUM’S 21ST ANNIVERSARY
The Wedding Present, Bizarro, live.
Those are the only three things you really need to know.
Well, maybe just a bit more.
Since its inception in Leeds, England in 1987, The Wedding Present have been well known for their love-lorn lyrics and jangly and distortion-heavy guitars. Once called the ‘British Pixies’, they have influenced a wide range of groups from Blur to The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.
Released in 1989, Bizarro remains a fan favourite and its notable tracks are “Brassneck” and “Kennedy.” The album marked the first official release for the band in North America and its major label debut (RCA). The forthcoming April 2010 tour, much anticipated after the hugely successful George Best 20th Anniversary Tour in 2007, will feature the album in full plus a few other new and old favourites.
David Gedge was the original shuffling, unassuming indie kid and he hasn’t changed a bit; neither has the ferocity in which The Wedding Present launch into their live shows. They are as relevant now as they were in 1989… and this tour is a great example of Gedge sharing the love with his army of dedicated fans as well as welcoming new ones.
