Bagpipes, Highland dancers and music by the Raggle Taggle Band are part of the festivities for lads and lasses at the 11th annual Tartan Day Ceilidh.
“Tartan Day commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320, which was Scotland’s sovereignty over English territorial claims,” says Franklin Dohanyos, executive director of the Scottish American Society of Michigan, which is presenting the event. “England didn’t take too kindly to that, and there were rebellions.”
In addition to entertainment, fish and chips will be served, and raffles will be held for prizes including a bottle of Scotch, a Starbucks gift card and restaurant gift cards.
We use this event to raise money for the Alma College Scholarship Fund.
