SHOW REVIEW: Excision at The Fillmore Detroit on 4/5/14

Canadian dubstep pioneer, Excision, brought his 2014 tour to Detroit’s Fillmore on Saturday night with opening acts, Dirtyphonics and ill.Gates. Live, Jeff Abel, better known by his stage name, Excision, is known for his hard-hitting beats and his intense graphics. His current tour features a monstrous, new 150,000 watt floor-shaking sound system, up from 100,000 watts on his last tour. The centerpiece of Excision's live show is his multi-million dollar “Executioner” video and light production. The “Executioner” is a full on sensory overload; a 28 feet wide and 15 feet tall 3D video animation blasting masterpiece. The “Executioner” has moving components that hide Excision at certain points and also shoots smoke and laser beams out into the audience.
During Excisions set, the mood in the room was incredibly spirited. Excision played his own music, music by others including Jay-Z and Kanye West, as well as music by DESTROID, his side project with Downlink and KJ Sawka. Excision is currently in the middle of his 55 date 2014 live tour. The excitement levels were at an all time high for fans of Excision. His unforgettable live dubstep experience will be one that plenty of the concert goers will be reliving and telling their friends about for years to come.

Up and coming French dubstep and drum and bass group, Dirtyphonics and Canadian glitch-hop god, ill.Gates.opened the nights spectacle.
