Wednesday night saw pop-rockers All-American Rejects play a sugary sweet set of danceable hits as well as some tracks off the new record, Kids in the Street. Singer Tyson Ritter was high as a kite on um, life, and was buzzing around the stage all night firing off goofy one-liners and belting out AAR classics like "Swing,Swing" "It Ends Tonight," and the closer "Gives You Hell."
The band seems to have come full-circle since their meteoric rise to fame in the early 00's. Gone are the massive egos and rockstar elitism, now its just a group of guys on stage having fun and bringing the eager audience along for the ride. The band added an extra guitar player and keys for the live show, fattening up the sound and executing each cut effortlessly with plenty of energy and muscle.
Sounboard can be a great venue at times, but can also swallow up the crowd energy with its arena-height ceilings and cavernous wings, but AAR kept the crowd dancing all night and even invited a couple "lucky" ladies on stage for a Kid Rock style dance-off before hitting the road.
