Wild At Heart

It has been a busy week for me as I am preparing to go to Florida next week to get my parents and drive them back. It sucks being so far away with my dad recovering from surgery but hopefully he'll be ready for travel by the time I get down there. Upon moving back to help take care of them it seems to have been one thing after another. However, I know many people who have it worse so I cannot really complain. The only thing I have done recently was check out the NY Museum of Transportation (http://nymtmuseum.org/index.php). It holds a collection of train cars (some of which are used for rides in the summer) and other vehicles which are under various stages of preservation. The have a lot of upstate history here and among the things you can see include the Philadelphia Transportation Sweeper C-130 which was used to clear snow from the tracks,

the Casey Jones Track Car with it's standard Ford Model T engine that would transport men and materials to maintenance sites,

and a Best Model 60 (Caterpillar) Snow Plow and Buffalo Springfield Road Roller among other things.

I hope you enjoyed these pictures which show a nice stop off for train lovers driving through this area. It is interesting to see some of the work shops where they fix up the trains which is something you don't see at the Henry Ford. Feel free to check out the website for more of there trains and other vehicles.

I have to get to bed soon as I got to be at work at 5:30 AM tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some shows to recommend for the week:
