Psychedelic rock, a term that usually makes one think back to the 60's and 70's of musical history to bands such as Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, The Byrds, and countless others, doesn't often come in to play much in ones everyday vocabulary these days. Not a forgotten or dead musical genre by any means, it lives on in the cosmic underground with the occasional shining star going supernova upon the unsuspecting universe. Sweden's Graveyard is that white dwarf star about to explode, showering the music landscape with their reinvented blend of gritty, bluesy, psychedelic rock. Formed back in 2006 in Gothenburg, Sweden, they headed back to their roots of rock and roll to create the unique sound that they have finessed over the past few years. Their first album, Graveyard, was a huge success amongst music fans and earned them a spot on the coveted South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX in 2008, their first US date ever played. Hisingen Blues, their second album released in 2011, found them the subject of critical acclaim around the globe, with the video of their title track going viral across social media and the internet as a whole. Touring in support of that release brought them to many venues around the USA, with fans driving across multiple states just to catch them live. Their latest and most anticipated release, Lights Out, released late 2012, brought them to the forefront of the rock and metal community, with a flurry of favorable reviews and bringing them back to the USA for another round of touring early in 2013.
Graveyard will be playing at The Shelter below Saint Andrews Hall on February 4th. A tight, intimate and barebones venue, many great bands have passed through here on their way to huge success. This is the memory you need to make, the in your face, balls to the wall rock and roll sound of a band that is climbing rapidly up the ladder of success. Miss this show, and you will be kicking yourself when they return playing a bigger stage somewhere else in the area. They sold out almost every show on their USA headlining tour in 2012 so don't be left out!
