Lansing metal band DeverauX will be performing this Sunday at The Pike Room in Pontiac along with Stikyfut, Embers And Apathy, Prince Of Whales, And A Righteous Downfall. One of my personal local favorite bands, I was blown away the first time I saw them play at Uli's Haus of Rock in Lansing last summer in support of Eye Empire and even more recently as direct support for Psychostick. Having only been together for a couple years now, the band has made a serious impact on the Michigan metal scene with multiple direct support shows for major acts around the state, as well as winning the 2011 Q106 Homegrown Throwdown shortly after forming. Not a band to sit back and let life pass them by, they actively travel around the state performing as often as they can, with a loyal following of fans who travel hours to support them
A live DeverauX show is an aural treat for the mind, with singer Phil LaMay switching between snarling, growling guttural vocals to fine tuned crisp pipes, backed by guitarist Chas Millican and bassist JD Younk thrashing and stomping their way around the stage busting out a wall of sound, with drummer David Floyd vying hard to do his best impersonation of a real life Animal Muppet in the back. Their connection with the audience is sincere, deep and powerful. It's not often a band gets me psyched up after only hearing them play one song, but they had me hooked from the start. And you have to love a band that does a bitching metal cover of Journey's Separate Ways. \m/
They recently released their debut E.P. "The Last of Us", with an official video release featuring the eponymous title track, linked below, along with links to hear more of their tracks from the E.P.
So don't let that Sunday hangover get you down, pick the party back up and clear your head with a bottle of DeverauX Sunday night! Event and ticket page.
