BONZIE, the moniker for unsigned Chicago-based 18-year-old multi-instrumentalist and singer Nina Ferraro, was born to be a musician. By the age of nine, Bonzie was devoted to making music, and was performing at local cafes by the age of 12. Fast forward to now and you find that Bonzie - with the independent release her debut record Rift Into The Secret Of Things - has manifested into a songwriter that isn’t traditional or confessional, but more of an observer and commentator. She’s drawn to expressing the concerns of her generational cohort, influenced by artists such as PJ Harvey, Jim O’Rourke, Daniel Johnson, and Bjork. Industry juggernauts from SPIN to BROOKLYN VEGAN to PASTEMAGAZINE.com have praised her unabashed maturity and fearless musicianship.
