The 46th annual Longhorn World Championship Rodeo returns to The Palace for its 22nd consecutive year with two big performances on Saturday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 2 p.m.

Specially priced four packs at $90 Superfan (save $30) and $70 reserved (save $18) are also available. On Sunday, kids ages 12 and under receive 50% off and seniors receive $5 off reserved seating.

Tickets may also be charged by phone to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Special group and scout discounts are available by calling The Palace Group Sales Office at 248/371-2055.

The rodeo will again feature more than 125 cowboy and cowgirl contestants including former World Champions and many top 10 ranked in the nation competing on award winning bucking stock and competition horses and will be competing in six sanctioned events: Bareback Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc Riding, Cowgirls Barrel Racing and Bull Riding. Contestants are expected from throughout the United States and Canada, with several from Michigan.

The rodeo will also offer children ages 5-10 a chance to compete in their own rodeo contest with the return of The Kids Stick Horse Stampede, which will take place on Saturday, February 13 and will include competitions for riding a bucking stick horse, stick horse racing and the best home-made stick horse.

The Stick Horse Stampede continues to be one of the rodeo’s most popular attractions, said Longhorn Rodeo producer Heather Lehrke. “The kids love the chance to be part of the rodeo and the audience loves to watch them compete.”

The kids are divided into at least two age groups and compete on the arena floor as the second half of the rodeo begins. Prizes are awarded to the winners.

Those who want to enter the Kids Stick Horse Stampede may do so on the arena floor during the 45-minute “On The Dirt” pre-show. The pre-show includes a chance to check out the bucking chutes, get a close-up view of rodeo equipment, try roping, take photographs with non-professional cameras and meet professional cowboys, cowgirls and rodeo clowns who’ll be featured during the rodeo performance.

Doors at The Palace open one hour before show time. The pre-show begins as soon as the doors open and continues until 15 minutes before the show begins. Hope to see you there!
