BRENDAN BENSON ANNOUNCES
FIRST LEG OF NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Forthcoming Album, My Old, Familiar Friend, to Stream on NPR.com Beginning August 4th
American singer-songwriter Brendan Benson embarks on a North American tour August 17th starting at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. The tour advances the release of Benson’s critically acclaimed fourth full-length album, My Old, Familiar Friend (August 18, ATO Records). The first leg of the tour will also make stops in Chicago, Ann Arbor, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles.
On August 4, two weeks prior to album release, NPR.com will stream My Old, Familiar Friend in its entirety as All Songs Considered’s “First Listen” giving fans all over North American the chance to hear the album critics have been raving about. Billboard said of it: “Like Benson’s earlier solo work, My Old, Familiar Friend is an impeccably crafted power-pop gem long on catchy melodies and lovelorn lyrics.” In a 4-star review Mojo Magazine called Benson an “unabashed but somewhat battered romantic” that excels when “hooking up heartbreak with harmonies” and Rolling Stone previewed, “For [My Old, Familiar Friend],Benson reached back to something decidedly more anglophilic than the Southern-fried rock he makes with the Raconteurs.”
My Old, Familiar Friend was recorded in Nashville and London with producer, Gil Norton (Pixies, Maximo Park, Foo Fighters) and mixer Dave Sardy (The Rolling Stones, LCD Soundsystem, Oasis).
