Thievery Corporation
Live at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Wednesday October 21st!
Formed in the summer of 1995 in Washington, D.C., Thievery Corporation is made up of recording artist and DJ duo Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, plus various supporting artists from around the globe. Their sound is an instrumental, abstract-infused, liquid persuasion dance music, which drifts somewhere between trip-hop and acid jazz.
In 1996 Thievery Corporation came out with two international underground hit vinyl singles, “Shaolin Satellite” and “2001 Spliff Odyssey.” These were released on their own indie record label ESL Music, which is named after their Washington, D.C. based bar Eighteenth Street Lounge. Over the next decade they would remix music pioneers such as David Byrne, The Doors, and Sarah McLachlan and record three more critically acclaimed albums. The newest installation to their repertoire is “Radio Retaliation.”
