POLKA FLOYD - Hamtramck Labor Day Festival - Monday 5:45pm

THE POLKA FLOYD SHOW RETURNS TO DETROIT
TO ROCK THE HAMTRAMCK LABOR DAY FESTIVAL!

After a rousing performance at The Hamtramck Festival last year, Toledo’s own The POLKA FLOYD show, “Pink Floyd done Polka style” tribute band makes a return appearance to the stage on Monday, September 7, 5:45 at the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival.

The Polka Floyd Show - the only “Pink Floyd done polka style” tribute band - has been creating quite a buzz throughout the Midwest for their highly entertaining performances. After performing the festival circuit this summer the band returns to their stomping grounds of Detroit and Toledo. The band is a must-see for fans of Pink Floyd, polka and rock music fans alike!

The POLKA FLOYD show pays tribute to Pink Floyd in their own way, featuring classic material from throughout the band’s history from the early Syd Barrett period to the epic “The Wall”, including “Comfortably Numb” the first song they covered together as a band. They have also performed the seminal “Dark Side of the Moon” album in its entirety. In 2008, Static Records released their self-titled debut album that delivered their unique spin on seven classic Pink Floyd tracks from six different albums that spanned three decades. The album received rave reviews from music aficionados across the globe. They have also found fans in psychobilly star Unknown Hinson and Star Trek actor Wil Wheaton.

The second album, “Live at the Ohio Theatre” was recorded – unsurprisingly - live at the historic Ohio Theatre. The theatre, built in 1921, is one of the oldest movie houses in Toledo and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The theatre was recently restored and is home to the Toledo Theatre Organ Society. The non-profit group runs the facility and hosts organ concerts and live shows there. The band performed a fundraiser for the venue earlier this year and recorded the performance for their second album. The result it a 14-song magnum opus of Pink Floyd classics from every era transformed in their unique polka style.

The show is Monday, September 7 at 5:45pm on the South Stage at the annual Hamtramck Labor Day Festival located on Jos Campau between Caniff and Carpenter in Hamtramck’s business district. The festival which runs all weekend is free and open to all ages.
