FREE TICKETS: FREE BEER: Video from Hamtramck Blowout 2009

Well we finally collected all the tapes from all the MCB shooters - look for a completed video sometime on the weekend

"Ahhh man...we want it now!"

I hear ya - but its a lot of freakin work doing these damn videos with shooting the footage - importing to the computer - edit and add little effects and titles -render and export - upload to the internet and the post to MCB

fuck - thats a lot of effort PLUS we shot like 4 hours of tape at the blowout

on to regular business - we already posted a couple lager house shows the other day but we got an email early yesterday about offering a few pairs of tickets to a couple shows - Friday and Saturday shows at Lager House to be exact

so the 1st emailers to ask for the tickets to either show not only get into the shows for free but MCB will buy them a couple of beers as well

PJ's Birthday! w/The Muggs, Tres Bien, Mumpsy
10pm
$7
It's PJ's birthday!!!
This night is going to rock!

After their stint on Fox's reality show, "The Next Great American Band" a couple years ago, local blues rock trio The Muggs gained new fans all over the nation to become one of the biggest bands in Detroit. But they are far more than just former reality TV stars-- The Muggs are truly talented musicians and some of the friendliest folks in Detroit rock. They've received many accolades, including "Best Rock Band of the Year 2007" from radio station RIFF2. The Muggs will be playing with their "Next Great American Band" cohorts Tres Bien. Rebecca Kujawa of The Buffalo News says, "Tres Bien's energetic mod-psychedelic-rock mixed with contemporary pop is reminiscent of such acts as Cold War Kids, The Honorary Title and Tilly and The Wall." Mumpsy is a Florida-based group that gravitates towards the melodies of early and mid-sixties Brit Pop bands like The Kinks and The Beatles. Punk expression lends itself via The Misfits and The Stooges, and that's what adds to the excitement of seeing Mumpsy play: you never know which side of the muse they'll be enticing.

Saturday, March 14
SSM w/Mick Bassett & the Marthas, UVU
10pm
$5
SSM WILL be playing, but this is NOT their record release show.

Is it noise? Rock? Electronic?
All of the above, pretty much.

Local supergroup SSM celebrates the release of their new self-titled album on Howl Records tonight at PJ's Lager House. The boys just returned from a lengthy and successful European tour to promote the s/t release. Their third full-length LP finds SSM further exploring the boundaries of sound and composition. This is perhaps their most ambitious work to date. Of SSM, The New York Times says, "...this three-man band - John Szymanski ..boards, Dave Shettler on drums and Marty Morris on guitar - doesn't stay within any particular school or era. SSM also toys with electro, progressive rock and punk-funk." Mick Bassett & the Marthas is an all-encompassing musical adventure. Bassett makes music in the curly-haired singer-songwriter vein. "Bob Dylan" whispers swirl around this young man but the horns and talent of The Marthas add another element altogether making for one of the most energetic and unique shows around the motor city. Local duo UVU will kick off the night with their ambient sounds of a decidedly more electronic leaning.
