Smitten by Detroit:



So, April Fools Day came and went and I must say,

I was severely disappointed with the lack of creativity

and effort in the joke department people.

The ever increasing morbid job loss and shell shocked economy hasn't effected our humor too? Has it? Blah. INCONCEIVABLE! I want a better attempt next spring....more mass email and text alerts, fallacious, made up stories about some pregnancy, winning the lottery, alien abductions or sex change..whatever...

AND more rubber bands around the kitchen sink faucets!

April 1st wasn't all in vain.

At least in the Detroit music scene.

I gathered up a few friends and headed over to the Magic Stick in Detroit to see the San Diego lo-fi, noise, skate rock band, WAVVES perform. I was impressed by Nathan Williams stage performance, especially, captivated by the way he tossed and flung his hair and yet it still managed to stay in place when all the ruckass was over.

Kinda like a overly-concerned TV reporter doing coverage in the middle of a hurricane and using an entire hairspray bottle to cement his locks down before battling the turbulent winds.

Besides the amazing stage performance, more importantly the music was a fantastic delight.

Clashing, distored drums and guitar sounds climaxed over the crowd and rained down on the egar faces of the thrity or so young people in the audiance. My favorite song, WAVVES (incidently shared with the band's name) was played along with Beach Goth and others.
